 SWARM COMMUNITY FARM

A Unique Healing and Restoration Ministry

In February 2007, a not-for-profit organisation titled the Solomon Waters Aquaponic Rehabilitation and Mentoring Association Incorporated (SWARM) was created in Canberra Australia with a charter to establish a working farm as the vehicle for a healing and restoration ministry and as a means of providing new life and work skills experiences and to act as an incubator for new, innovative, eco-friendly and resource conscious agricultural micro-businesses.

SWARM’s Vision

We believe in actively working towards a healthier mind, body and spirit achieved through seeking the Word of God, communing with him through nature, his living creatures, spending time in fellowship and through toil of the land.    Our heart is for restoration and healing from the grips of depression and other mental and physical illnesses or disabilities.  We are committed to the belief that everyone deserves and has the right to a fresh start and a chance for a more fulfilling and fruitful life.   We aim to facilitate higher self determination through better ‘Life’ choices and an exploration of God’s plan for us through Christian mentoring and support.

The name SWARM is based on the life and teachings of Solomon, who despite being recognised as a wise man, suffered an incredible fall from grace and need for redemption. Solomon placed a strong emphasis on work and relationships which fits well with SWARM’s ideology for personal growth and development.

We believe that it is through relationship that growth occurs. By mentoring with others who have already trodden the path and have broken through barriers to achieve a rich and fulfilling life in Christ, we hope that more may come to know Christ, may come to fulfil their true purpose in life and that all involved shall benefit immensely from the experience.

As President of SWARM I would like to offer a warm welcome to all our SWARM community members and external visitors to our new online Blog. I pray that those who use this site shall show Godly respect for one another, their varying points of view on expressions of faith, feeling or experience. Comments generally should be edifying and fruitful.

May I encourage users to register using the name of a Bible character that best relates to them at this point in their walk. An opening introduction should include a brief outline of the character and why his/her life speaks/relates to you at this time.

As you can see I have chosen Moses:
Moses overcame many trials for God’s people, but, as with many great achievements, they did not come without failure and fear. Without recognizing the sacrifices and the unselfish dedication of this man, one cannot fully appreciate his greatness. Moses’ life can provide many lessons that can be applied to lives today. Even though Moses had doubts, he followed God, which eventually benefitted the whole nation. One should strive to increase in faith in order to possess a faith like Moses. Contained in the book of Exodus are many examples of Moses’ sacrifices and the hardships he endures while freeing the Hebrew slaves. Beginning even at his birth, Moses life takes many astonishing turns, all ending for the betterment of God’s people.

So as it was with Moses, I am often compelled to ask of God - “Why me Lord? Am I not worthy for the task you place upon me?” and of course the answer I receive is always the same. ‘walk in faith and humble obedience and I promise to make your path straight, light your way, walk beside you, catch you when you stumble, carry you through times of trial, continue to equip you for service and I shall never ask more of you than you can handle!’

Faith in relationship with our living Lord is central to all we do at SWARM Community Farm.
